If your record is holding you back, expungement can be a life changing solution.
⚠️ Important note for licensed professionals: Certain professions require that you report prior convictions even if you have received a court order expunging your New Jersey criminal history. For example, licensed professionals such as doctors or lawyers will likely still have to disclose arrests involving not only criminal charges, but even municipal level and driving offenses.

How It Works and Who Qualifies
To file an expungement, our office first determines whether you are eligible. We do this by examining the strict requirements of N.J.S.A. 2C:52-1, and so on.
According to New Jersey law, expungement means the extraction, sealing, impounding, or isolation of all records on file within any court, detention or correctional facility, law enforcement or criminal justice agency. These records relate to a person’s detection, apprehension, arrest, detention, trial, or disposition of an offense within the criminal justice system.
Expunged records include complaints, warrants, arrests, commitments, processing records, fingerprints, photographs, index cards, rap sheets, and judicial docket records.
